Personal Coaching

Is your life all that you want it to be?  For sure, there are bad things in life that you can’t avoid.  But what about the rest?  Many of us find ourselves in a situation that we do not want to be in, but we tolerate it rather than doing something about it.  Now’s your chance to take action!  At Result Coaching we can help you look at where you are now and make a plan to get to where you want to be.

We work with people who have a major obstacle in their life and are now looking for the way forwards.  Typical situations might be:

  • Chronic illness - I can't do what I used to do but I still want a fulfilling life.
  • Disability - I know that there is lots that I could do, if only...
  • Recovery from a serious accident or heart attack - I want to get back in to doing something, but what?
  • Bereavement - what practical changes do I need to make to move on?
  • Retirement - I'm not yet ready to stop completely.
  • Redundancy - I need to reassess what I can do and what I want to do so that I can plan the next phase of my life.

Rather than rushing into a solution, we will help you to examine your values – those things that are of fundamental importance to you.  By understanding your values you can choose options for the future that sit well with you as a whole person and therefore lead to greater contentment.  Together we will look at the options that are open to you and, once you have a better understanding of where you are now and where you want  to go, we can set an achievable action plan to get you there.

Andy has written an article to help you start thinking about the changes that you want to make in your life.  If you would like a copy of this article, please click on the following link: Request Wheel of Life Article .  We will also email  you occasional inpirational and motivational tips.  (See privacy statement).

The coaching contract will usually be for 12, 50 minute sessions which can be extended if necessary.  My preference is to start with weekly sessions and then after the concentrated action of the first 6 sessions, many clients find it possible to drop to fortnightly or even monthly sessions as they learn that they can take control of their own life.  We can, of course, discuss other options to suit you.  Sessions can be held during the daytime or evening to fit in with your schedule.

A programme of coaching sessions is appropriate if you are wanting to make significant changes in your life.  However, if you are just needing help on a smaller issue that you are stuck with, I offer one off coaching sessions.

We work mainly by telephone but face-to-face sessions may also be available.

We are committed to enabling as many people as possible to benefit from coaching so we make available a limited number of sessions with reduced fees.

If you would like to see a  typical coaching contract and code of conduct, please contace us and we will gladly send you a copy.

Please contact us for a free, no obligation discussion about your situation before you commit to investing in your future.

 Coaching within Organisations

All organisations have to adapt to new challenges just to survive.   It is all too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day running of the organisation and not leave space to work on the future of the organisation.  A coach will encourage the manager and employees to step back from the front line to take a look at the bigger picture to allow them to develop a clearer vision for the company and make sure that their personal and organisational priorities are well aligned.  Tha aim is to develop a successful organisation while maintaining a good work-life balance for everyone concerned.

Senior managers in particular feel the pressure as they take on the leadership roles without the support or guidance of anyone above them.  These positions can be very isolating and stressful.  Working with a coach can allow the manager the space to sort through their organisational and personal priorities and to act as a sounding-board for developmental ideas.

Typical Coaching Issues:

Change Management

One of the most challenging times for any organisation is when it is going through change, and yet change is essential to remain relevant to your customers' needs.  There are numerous challenges to overcome:

  • Accepting that change is needed
  • Identifying the best course of action
  • Checking the financial and legal implications
  • Keeping the workforce 'on side'
  • Assessing what customers' and other organisations' reactions might be
  • Managing the change process

Coaching can help the management and employees to develop a vision  and acceptance of the required changes and positively tackle issues as they arise

Worker development

Employers expect results from their employees, whether they be paid staff or voluntary helpers.  Employees are expected to be multi-skilled and able to take on a wider range of tasks and roles than they might previously have done.

Some of the skills gap can be addressed by training alone but it is increasingly recognised that training plus coaching provides a significantly improved outcome.  Research by the International Personnel Management Association indicates that training alone increases productivity by 22%: Training with the addition of coaching increases productivity to an impressive 88%

Even employees with all of the skills that they need get stuck from time to time.  A problem project? A difficult customer? An important presentation?  Moving into supervision or man-management? A coach can help to clear the mist and un-stick the situation.

Personal issues

Unfortunately, we all suffer from ‘real life’ every so often.  The issue might be in the work place, at home or a combination of the two.  Wherever it is coming from, there is often a damaging effect on the employee’s performance.  A wise employer will spot this decreased performance and help the employee to tackle the issue.  A coach can work extremely well in this situation.  As the coach is independent of the organisation the employee is more likely to discuss things that he or she would not want to discuss with the employer.  The key aim of the coaching is to take action to resolve the issue and get the employee back on track.  Giving the employee the space and encouragement to work through the issue brings significant results.

Using our varied experiences of working with many companies and organisations, we can help you get the best out of your organisation by helping you identify those areas that are holding you back and then developing an action plan to tackle those issues.

Testimonial

I had the benefit of life coaching with Andy Hilton between October and December 2005. I found Andy to be helpful in many ways.

Identifying goals and maintaining some elements of my business strategies whilst revising others, have brought positive benefits to my business through increased contacts and offers of work.

Personally I felt supported and encouraged to improve fitness levels and general well-being.

I found Andy to be helpful in discussion of new ideas, His pragmatic and honest approach was always supportive whilst remaining focussed.

Andy helped me to form my own agenda for this work, enabling me to work on different aspects of my life to promote a better balance

I would highly recommend Andy to others who would benefit from his expertise.
